1. What makes an SKG 3* cylinder different from an SKG 2*?
An SKG 2* cylinder is only resistant to the 'silent' burglary method, but offers no protection against core pulling. An SKG 3* security lock has been reinforced and specifically tested for a tensile force of at least 15kN, meaning that burglars with a core puller have no chance.
2. Is a steel bridge necessary for an SKG 3 cylinder?
Although SKG 3 is the highest standard, many cylinders are still made of brass on the inside. M&C Cylinders have a hardened steel bridge. This prevents the lock from being simply broken in half during an attempted burglary.
3. How do I know what size cylinder lock I need?
You measure the distance from the center of the cylinder (the bolt hole) to both ends. Our SKG 3 locks are modular, meaning they can always be made to fit any door thickness perfectly.
