How do you use the service pen?
Apply both sides of the keyhole a small amount.
Also spray as far into the cylinder as possible (with the pen/pin towards the core), so that the agent reaches the right place.
- Lightly lubricate the keyhole on the inside and outside.
- Insert and remove the key from the lock several times.
- Turn the key a few full turns to distribute the lubricant evenly.
- Is the lock still stiff? Repeat with a small extra dose.
Maintenance tip:
With intensive use (business premises, many users, outside door) 2x per year recommended.

How often should I lubricate my cylinder lock?
For normal use, we recommend at least once a year. For exterior doors or heavy use, twice a year is ideal.
Why can't I use oil, grease, or graphite?
Oil and grease attract dirt and can cause friction or seizure over time. Graphite can clump in modern cylinders. It's best to use only the service pin.
Where exactly do I apply the service pen?
Apply a small amount to the keyhole on both sides of the door, as far into the cylinder as possible. Then distribute it by turning the key several times and turning it completely.
Does this also help with a stiff M&C cylinder lock?
