Core pull protection: Your home optimally secured

Prevent burglary within 20 seconds with the right security.

Are you already familiar with core pullingBurglars turn a hardened steel screw into the core of your cylinder lock and pull them out with force. Within 20 to 30 seconds they are in your home. Whether you have a standard lock or a luxury three-point lock: without the right core pull protection your home is in immediate danger.

How do I protect my door against core pulling?

An SKG 2* lock is no longer sufficient these days. According to the current Building Decree, a home must meet SKG 3* requirements. You have two options:

  1. Core pulling fitting: Placing special core pulling fitting (recognizable by the metal plate in front of the keyhole).
  2. Core pulling cylinders: Replace your current cylinders with SKG 3* variants with an additional steel bridge.

M&C Core pulling fitting

  • Visible prevention (deters burglars).
  • Available in aluminum, stainless steel and black.
  • Downside: Often additional drilling in the door is required.
  • Downside: Protected against pulling only, not against drilling or knocking.

SKG 3* Cylinders (Advice)

  • Protected against: core pulling, drilling, impact and breaking.
  • Steel bridge: Makes breaking virtually impossible.
  • Easy to assemble yourself without drilling.
  • Always offering keyed alike available.

Combine your new cylinders directly with a complete security lock for maximum burglary delay.

Frequently asked questions about core pull protection

1. How do I know if I already have core pull protection?

You can recognise core pull protection in two ways: by the fitting on the door (there is a metal plate in front of the cylinder that only the key can pass through) or by the SKG 3* logo (three stars) on the cylinder itself.

2. Are SKG 2* fittings sufficient to prevent core pulling?

No, SKG 2* fittings or cylinders haven't been tested for core pulling. Burglars can still easily force these locks. We always recommend at least SKG 3* products for your exterior doors.

3. What is the advantage of a cylinder with a steel bridge?

A steel bridge ensures that the cylinder cannot be broken through in the middle, even if the burglar uses brute force. All M&C Cylinders at MC-Cilinder are equipped with this extra strong bridge.

4. Can I install core pull protection myself?

Yes, replacing a cylinder takes just 5 minutes. You simply unscrew the retaining screw on the side of the door. Replacing door hardware is often more difficult because the drill holes must match.
